Sitting on my 5D Mark II, and works fantastically well!
Have had the lens in a number of years and have never been really happy. The sharpness is every bit half-bad, and now I have also been affected by the notorious Err 01. Canon workshop wanted 7000 to prepare the aperture, a new cost 1 penny less at time of writing. Now, I will buy a 24-70 instead then I always have with my fast 100mm / f2.8.
The thing to hear that I have seen a hundred people who have had exactly the same problem with the lens. Most seem to have bought his over the same period. Canon refuses to admit that it is a manufacturing defect, and everyone gets put out good money to repair it. Not OK.
Absolutely wonderful L The apertures!
Bought my Canon EOS 70D
+ High-quality feel as the most L lenses
+ Weather Sealed.
+ Weight Balancing is perfect.
+ Wonderful Sharply very nice pictures
+ Image Stabilization
+ Great price for what you get
- Fairly heavy distortion at 24mm FF But if you zoom out to 26mm so it disappears.
- Vinjetterar little bit FF (though easily solved in such Lightroom)
Had lens for seven years and have been very satisfied with its performance. In full-frame, it is a brilliant all round lenses.
During the past year I have experienced recurrent Err 01 messages. Googling shows that there seems to be a relatively common problem with this particular ojbektivet. A cable in lens breakage. Cost around 4000-5000 to fix in Sweden.
At this writing, the lens quite cheap for being an L lens, but I would hesitate to buy it, given the problems that have arisen. Secondhand market would watch me.
Really good all-around lens. Crisp and moderately compact.
