I was initially very unhappy with what I thought was extreme "clouding" (uneven light distribution of light that is visible in dark scenes), where above all a great blaffa in the middle of the screen ruined the enjoyment right in dark scenes. However, read online that in some cases can reduce clouding by massaging your area area with a microfiber cloth. I was extremely skeptical, but tried and amazing enough, it worked! Now I have no problems with clouding and blackness is fully satisfactory.
Regarding the procedure as lasted a very weak pressure, type double the weight resting a hand is against a table. This was enough to temporarily "light up" the area under pressure and somehow afterwards reset the lighting in the black. Do not know why, is just happy that it worked.
That I'm still not 100% satisfied with the vertical band that appears faint especially when the camera pans over solid colors, which typically occurs during such football matches (green lawn ...). Since I did not interest me especially for sports, it is not a major problem, but perfect is not.
Android TV I think is fantastic, I use it to PLEX and actually have not even switched the TV broadcasts contenting me to proceed with my film library. Two cables to your TV, network and electricity. There are built-in wifi, but I prefer the more stable wired network when I stream video from the NAS. Big plus I do not have any external boxes. Built-in Google Cast is also nice, although I did not use it.
There is some clutter installed by default on Android TV, type "featured apps" (basically advertising for SONY sponsored apps), but they can be removed with a little help from Google. Would have liked to see more configurable home screen and remote control, but it is ok as it is.
The power cable is besides permanently installed in the TV and 1.5m long, something I could not find info about anywhere.
After about 2 days of use, I am happy with the purchase.
So elegant design, love Sony.
Have checked lots of appliances before I decided. When I put on a blu-ray movie on the TV, it's in my gruesomely good picture, I do not feel the slightest need to have to have better image (4K) and can hardly believe that it is possible. I am no picture nerd but look what I see, sitting on approximately 3.5 m from the TV and as I said, as close to picture perfect as you can get under mig.Tror the real need for 4K is either if you're sitting real close, but normal seen sitting one can not closer than 2 m, so wheat hell if it's worth the extra money. Feels like companies trying to express milk money from the customers.
Watching lots of sports, mainly football and hockey, and on the HD channels I watch it canons.
Operation-wise, I consider the television as well, android works fine and is fast for sure. App selection is well not be the biggest yet but should be increased gradually.
Not the world's best looking menu system but functional.
Google cast function is really good, has been using it constantly since I bought it.
Nice not having to have bunch of extra boxes and shit, but just run through the phone or the toad, laggy absolutely nothing and when I run anyway "only" 24 Mbit ADSL (WiFi)
On the minus side:
The remote is a bit "poor" if you ask me, functional yes but not especially luxurious but maybe you apparently can not expect in this price class !? The other producers are not improved what I've seen.
Should download the sideview app for mobile complement.
The sound is pitiful that in all the flat devices, so external audio system is needed if you are not satisfied with clock radios base.
Recommend this device wholeheartedly.
