Just got it and want to give my first impressions. Fyndade last piece at Media Markt for 1990: -
Design - Stylish and discreet. Just the right size so it blends in well under the TV.
Connections - 1st optical in, 1st analog input, 3x HDMI in and HDMI ARC 1st out. Supports 3D and 4K (but only HDMI v1.4, so do not know what they mean). Also has Bluetooth so you can play music directly over the phone or tablet. Overall, very good! I missed a few HDMI ports to the media bench.
Sound - unexpectedly good. I'm no audiophile, but this simply sounds good to my ears - both in terms of movies, games and music. Supports virtually all modern Dolby / DTS (Atmos not so clear).
Obviously course it could sound better, and hence it will not be full pot. However, I think it sounds very good for a relatively cheap price, and therefore I can still recommend it.
Some positive and negative about Sony HT-XT1:
+ Very nice design. Smooth positioning without blocking the TV, and melts easily into the living room.
+ Have 3xHDMI contacts, so you can connect multiple devices to it. Does your TV supports CEC via HDMI so you can also control the volume of HX-XT1 via the TV remote control.
+ The base is surprisingly deep considering its size. Think it goes deeper than
tex Canton Digital Movie DM 50, which is the same size and type.
- The base is unfortunately uncontrolled and "prevented unwanted".
- Low frequencies such dark male voices is cavernous riga and unclear. That makes them difficult to interpret. Until often more difficult to hear than the TV's default speakers (depending on the TV you have iofs!).
- Not entirely neutral and balanced sound. Iofs perhaps too much to ask, given its size and price.
Unfortunately, I believe that the negative aspects are so powerful that it drags down the score significantly.
