Has used various different hemmabioreceivers and sample listened second preamp in this price range but never experienced that these have been good enough to handle stereo sound.
According to me this is an important component even when it should be used for film. The basis of a good movie sound is a good stereo sound. Stereo fix the CX-A5000 a very good way.
The sound is anything but flat and boring, which is often experienced with home theater equipment.
Here are the dynamics, the air in the sound image, blacks and very much details.
Probably this is largely DAC: s earnings, but also the power supply and balanced operation makes enough seating to.
Would you compare with stereo preamp in the same price range instead there are pure analog preamplifier are as good but then they shall consider that the CX-A5000 has a whole bunch of other nice features which makes it affordable even as a pure 2-channel preamp. Alongside well integrated DACs, balanced operation and hefty power supply unit, you can use the built-in room correction, the media player function and a whole range of other things that are made possible through LAN, HDMI switch, etc.
For film, the outstanding good after an auto calibration in three positions with the angle measurement, which can probably be something to seize on. This is something that can easily be carried out and does not require a lot of specialized knowledge, takes maybe a total of 10 minutes. In addition to auto calibration, I have only made manual adjustments to the crossover frequency. Can now happily say that I have not come across any machine that I can say sounds better for the film.
As I said above price range, I mean regular price (ca.25.000).
But myself, I gave a lower price for my CX-A5000 thus making it must be seen as very good value in my case.
If we now begin the clearance so I can not but recommend the device primarily from a sound perspective. Functionally, I could never recommend any home theater machine as developments and demands for functionality go quickly. For me and probably many others so it can handle the need. Those Atmos that requirement may unfortunately wait for the successor or choose something else.
I do not have the CX-A5000 in combination MX-A5000 as many others, but drive with these machines the final step in home theater: Sunfire 5200 and Bladelius Thor3.
As a base I have a REL S3.
I have only tried the following speaker arrays: 2.0, 2.1, 5.1 and 7.1.
Really, really good. Had not expected such an improvement from changing me from Rx-A3010 to this preamp. But the improvements are significant on all fronts and huge on some.
On the music listening keeps the disassembled instruments, background sound incredibly good. Something that goes back to the movie track. Clearly the integration with the four surround are better, which also benefits the sound bubble along with the front area. In the absence of what it should be described ....: p
In short, the experience is terrible good.
A deeper analysis comes after an additional week of playing time.
Update: In my quest to replace and upgrade, I have really hard to find a better option in a realistic price range. Have had time to test the marantz and Onkyo top of the line. The old Now force and Primare SP32 (not new) and all will be from genuine, in some cases by a wide margin.
Analog performance at high level

Had CXA 5000 and MXA-5000 for 4 months now am super happy Harman had Marantz Onkyo Pioneer earlier this beats allti its class even when running two channel. If you want better you have to be prepared to pay 3 times.
