Overall a good preamp. Not the same sound as a purely digital or purely analog preamp, but instead much more features. Sure, a completely analog preamp without vinyl-step for the same price will be cheaper, but the DAC is in my ears a good 6000 crowns dac, it plays pretty smoothly with my old Hegel HD10, losing the M-DAC, vinyl step corresponds to no problems loosely in 1500 crowns the class. So, of course it is a compromise, but getting around compromise costs.
Tested some options before I fell for this and I do not regret. Driving balanced to Rotel's own 1582 mkII amplifier. Run coaxialt from CD, asynchronous USB from the computer, optically from TIVO box and video games and Spotify via built-in Bluetooth. Everything sounds very good. Tested separate DAC several thousand but did not think it sounded better.
This product is not a compromise but you stand out to compromise a bit (sound unfortunately) it has really everything one needs from the USB to make sense Riia and the opportunity to choose both RCA and XLR. Yes it has to o me bluetooth Pharaoh so no matter what is played so fixes the signal processing simply. Perhaps sniket pulling three stars for sound in this price range but I every disappoint simply!
